Industry data tracking service NPD Funworld has released November sales numbers for North America. Sony's PlayStation 2 and Game Boy Advance dominated the console sales charts, each moving 1.3 million systems in November. Meanwhile, 468,000 GameCube consoles were sold in November - equaling sales of Microsoft's Xbox. Considering that Microsoft recently bundled two free Sega games with Xbox, GameCube performed quite well comparatively.

November software sales grew by 7% overall year-over-year. GameCube software sales were up by 66% over the same period last year while Game Boy software sales fell by 16%. By comparison, PlayStation 2 software sales were up 69% and Xbox software sales were up 22%.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for PS2 lead the software sales charts in November with 1,452,700 copies sold. Nintendo's killer-app, Metroid Prime came in at #2 on the software sales charts, moving 363,400 units. Microsoft's leading holiday candidate, Splinter Cell from Ubi Soft, came in at #7 with a moderately impressive 223,900 units sold. Rounding off the top ten was Metroid Fusion with 199,700 units sold.
