Sega Corp. today unveiled the extremely sharp looking arcade cabinet
for F-Zero AC that the AOU 2003 exhibition in Tokyo, Japan.
Players of F-Zero AC will be able to exchange data with F-Zero GC
via a GameCube memory card. A magnetic-stripe card can also be used
to store racer stats off the machine. The cabinets feature a
steering wheel and peddles, moving seats, flat-panel screen, and
surround sound.
F-Zero AC and F-Zero GC
are being jointly developed
by Sega's Amusement Vision and Nintendo's EAD. While Amusement
Vision has taken on the bulk of the game's development,
EAD execs including Shigeru Miyamoto, Takaya Imamura, and Isshin
Shimizu, took leading roles - Miyamoto being the project's producer.
Triforce is a 3D computer graphics board for next-generation arcade
machines that applies the architecture of the GameCube. Nintendo,
Namco, and Sega announced joint development of the Triforce arcade
board in January, 2002. The goals of the agreement was to expand
arcade video game market, create a cost-effective environment for
arcade video game development, and establish a totally new game
system that will bridge game play between the home and amusement
facilities.
