The day that many Nintendo fans have been waiting for has arrived.
Early this morning, the Japanese gaming publication Famitsu Weekly
revealed the first Mario Kart Double Dash screens and details (scan of
article ).
Throughout the day, Nintendo revealed additional details. The game will
feature sixteen playable characters, including Mario, Luigi, Peach,
Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Yoshi, Birdo, Wario, Waluigi, Donkey Kong,
Diddy Kong, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Koopa, and Paratroopa, along with a number of hidden
characters unlockable throughout the game. Each vehicle carries a driver
and passenger; the two can exchange seats at any time. We expect
this will lead to some very fun co-op multiplayer options. Weapon
selection includes six standard items and eight passenger-dependent
items.
Finally,
8-player LAN play via two networked GameCubes over the console's
Broadband Adapter has been confirmed and
is set to be unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo next month.
