Konami
Corp. today confirmed that a game in the Metal Gear Solid series is
under development for Nintendo GameCube. In an interview with
Bloomberg, Konami representative Scott Dolph stated that no release
date for the title had been set. Hideo Kojima, the brilliant mind
behind Metal Gear Solid, has been interested in bringing the series
to Nintendo GameCube for some time.
Rumors of a Metal Gear Solid
game for GameCube surfaced earlier this week when Shigeru Miyamoto
told the European press that Nintendo and
Konami were working together on the game's development. Unfortunately, no further details were offered on the title. It is
however expected that Konami will unveil Metal Gear Solid for
GameCube at this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo in May.
The highly acclaimed Metal Gear Solid series has continually set new
benchmarks for the action videogame genre. In a deep plot of
espionage and intrigue, players take on the role of agent Solid
Snake, using an arsenal of high-tech weapons, gadgets and
supplies to stealthily maneuver through the game while meeting
objectives and defeating adversaries. Since the series' inception,
Metal Gear Solid has sold more than 11 million units
worldwide.
