Namco
is set to unveil Star Fox Armada for Nintendo GameCube later this month at
the Electronic Entertainment Expo. According to IGN Cube,
only the game's multiplayer modes will be on display. Reportedly, Namco
and Nintendo concentrated on Armada's multiplayer elements before moving
onto the game's single-player missions.
Jointly developed by Namco and Nintendo, Star Fox Armada is the true
sequel to Star Fox 64. While Rare's
Star Fox Adventures took the series in the direction of an action
adventure platformer, Namco's game will be entirely focused on traditional
Star Fox space shooter combat. Development of Star
Fox for GameCube has been underway since early 2001 according to Namco officials.
No release date has been announced.
