With
just a few months until the release of The Legend of Zelda in
North America, Nintendo has unveiled a movie theater trailer for the
GameCube game. The
unusually dark trailer begins with an eerie shot of Hyrule with leaves
blowing in the wind. The camera pans to a castle in which a young girl
tells the legend of Link. The carefully scripted music and ending line of
the trailer may even send chills down your spine.
The trailer is
exceedingly uncharacteristic of that which we would expect from Nintendo,
especially for such a key traditional franchise. However, the depiction of
the game through this eerie perspective may serve the marketing goal of
maturing the game beyond its cel-shaded appearance. The Legend of Zelda:
Kaze no Takuto will launch on in Japan on December 13th. The game will be
released in North America in Spring of 2003. You can view the entire
trailer below.
Trailer Transcript...
In the land of Hyrule, there echoes a legend. A legend held dearly
by the Royal family. That tells of a boy who became a man. He
embarked on a great journey to the deepest... darkest corners of the
Earth. Battling the forces of evil. Testing the limits of his will.
All to fulfill his destiny. Which is, above all else... to save...
me.
