Sales of Nintendo GameCube in Japan declined this week to 26,200 units. Capcom's GameCube exclusive, Resident Evil Ř fell to #17 on the software sales charts in its
third week of release. The game has sold a total of 222,000 copies
since its release. Mario Party 4 fell to #12 on the charts, while
still selling nearly 40,000 copies this week for a total of 362,500
units.
Game Boy Advance sales were extremely strong for a third week in a row
at 120,400. Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, took the #1
and #2 positions on this week's Dengeki game sales charts. Combined sales
for both
Pokémon games have now topped 2 million units.
Xbox sales surged to 5,900 as Japanese retailers began to sell the
console for Ľ19,800 ($160). Microsoft recently began to offer a
free DVD remote with Xbox consoles to drive sales during the holiday
shopping period. Sony recently cut the suggested retail price of PlayStation 2 to Ľ23,800
($192) in Japan.
